![]() ![]() It's a little frustrating because there just aren't any clues about what you're supposed to do at the very beginning of the game. ![]() By pressing the "start" button, though, you'll finally discover how to start the actual story quest. When the game starts, players begin in the square of Taleville that they'll run around, searching in vain for an exit. However, it's hard to love Fairytale Fights, thanks in large part to the fact that the game's controls and navigation aren't always intuitive. It's certainly a creative idea, but the problem is that the creativity doesn't quite pay off in the end. Between battles, players will have to run through a gauntlet of platforming sections that are often rather inventive. As a result, the character and level designs are bizarrely whimsical, but body parts fly and blood sprays everywhere once the combat starts. The game's visual style is one of its definite highlights: it's like someone took the art style from American McGee's Grimm and then sprinkled in the action/gore from Castle Crashers. It's a goofy plot, but one that seems filled with a great deal of potential for fun unfortunately, this is one of those games that seems to take one step back for every two it takes forward. So begins the story of Fairytale Fights, easily the most violent interpretation of Grimm's Fairy Tales to ever appear on a TV screen. One day, they found their starring roles in their respective tales usurped by that glory hound The Brave Little Tailor, and they suddenly were left adrift in the world of fairy tales seeking to reclaim their place in the world and plotting murder most bloody and foul. Once upon a time, there were some famous literary characters: Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, The Naked Emperor, and Jack (of beanstalk fame). ![]()
